When a secondary holds one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks under 150 yards, the chance of victory is extremely favorable.

This week, those odds played out in favor of Seattle, as Earl Thomas and the Legion of Boom blanketed New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees. The Super Bowl XLIV MVP mustered just 144 passing yards, as Seattle dominated 34-7 to sew up a playoff berth.

With Earl in back deep, Seattle didn’t allow a single pass over 20 yards or a run of more than 12.

Afterward, Brees tipped his cap to the Seahawks.

“We took one in the chin today,” Brees said. “We got outplayed today. They played great. They made a lot of plays, and we didn’t.”

Meanwhile, Russell Wilson threw three touchdown passes to outduel the Pro Bowler.

ETIII logged six combined tackles in the victory. Afterward, he spoke confidently about his team’s performance — particularly, the Legion of Boom. As reported by Seahawks.com:

“Everybody knows it’s hard to come in here and beat us,” All-Pro free safety Earl Thomas said. “We’ve been having the same success on the road, but when we play at home magic happens.”

“I’m not just saying this because it happened, but this is what we envisioned happening,” Thomas said. “If we always practice like this, we’re always going to have confidence.”
