It took overtime, but Seattle has posted its first 4-0 start in franchise history.

The Seahawks started slow, but a big play in the secondary sent them to extra time, where they escaped with a 23-20 victory over Houston.

In the opening quarter, Seattle stifled Houston’s defense, highlighted by an Earl Thomas interception, and the Seahawks held a 3-0 lead. But it was only to see the Texans mount a prolific second-quarter, scoring 20 unanswered points to take a 20-3 advantage at the break.

But the Hawks’ came to life in the second half, closing to within seven points in the final few minutes.

Houston was driving, looking to extend its lead, when Legion of Boom corner Richard Sherman snagged a Matt Schaub pass out of the air, and took it back for the game-tying touchdown.

“After the first half, I think we showed who we really are,” said All-Pro free safety Earl Thomas, who also had an interception and seven tackles. “Guys were kind of getting frustrated, but we’ve got leaders on this team and we got everybody back together and we finished the job.”

ET notched two deflections, a forced fumble and seven tackles along with the INT, as Seattle completed its comeback on a field goal in overtime.
