When we finally got back to Seattle, it was about 12:30 a.m on Tuesday, and the fans were waiting for us at the facility.
It was great. It was also crazy.
As I was trying to leave VMAC, people were running up to my truck, jumping on it, shaking it, going crazy. I have to be honest — I kind of got scared a little bit. The police had to come and help me get out of the parking lot. That’s when I knew this was on a whole other level.
It’s a different type of thank you.
When I finally got home, I was just laying in bed in shock. I was still kind of shaking from having all the people jumping on my truck, and then I was just thinking.
I’m only 24 years old. I’ve had Pro Bowl honors every year since I’ve been in the league, back to my rookie year, when I was an alternate. I’ve been All-Pro three times, and now we just won the Super Bowl. I’m starting to build a little legacy here.
As I thought about all that, the first thing I said to myself was, “Earl, keep leading. Keep doing you. Keep challenging yourself to be the best.” And that’s how I went to sleep.
The parade on Wednesday was another incredible experience that I will remember for the rest of my life. There were close to a million people out there. They were everywhere. Where there was normally street, it was nothing but people. People were in the trees. On top of buildings. On top of the 7-Eleven gas station.
It’s amazing how one positive thing like that can bring so many people together. That’s what love can do. That’s why I say love is the highest frequency. We won a championship and brought almost a million people together.
The Lombardi Trophy was on the Legion of Boom float. When I got to hold it, I was nervous because I didn’t want to drop it. I held it for a little bit, and then passed it. It felt right in my hands for those few seconds, but I didn’t want to get too caught up in the moment. I feel like I’ll have many more chances coming up to get back there. It’s motivation for me, a challenge I’ve issued myself. I don’t want to get too content.
The year’s journey is proof that, if I really put my mind to something, if I really get locked in, don’t take any days off, come to work and really lead by example, good things can happen. That just makes me want to keep fine-tuning my craft.
Coach Carroll is the reason I have this mindset, and want to be an ever-evolving player and person. When I was drafted, I wanted to know a little more about the guy who would be coaching me. So I went back and did some research on his career. I got some clips to see the way he used to coach.
Looking back, it was funny to see how he changed his coaching style and his approach to the game. The way he talks now, he didn’t always talk like that. He evolved. He’s young at heart, and he’s always trying to get better as a coach. As a player, when you see that, you just try to emulate it. That’s worked for me.
This is a very special organization to be a part of. There is no ill will expressed by anybody toward anybody else. The coaches are very up front with the players. That’s where all of our success started from: the coaches and the players really buying into what each other was bringing to the table.
There’s a genuine appreciation for everybody in the organization. Not even just players and coaches, but everybody in the building: management, security, the cafeteria people, everybody. It’s just a great place to go to work. Coach Carroll keeps it very upbeat and lively. It means everything to me to be a part of this organization.
I’m looking forward to the offseason. I can’t wait to spend time enjoying my daughter and just being a father to her. I’m going to be taking some trips and I love to take time to think when I’m away. My biggest motto is to keep growing, on and off the field. I’m excited for the wisdom to come.
What I got a taste of this season, I will always fight to protect. That is what’s going to take me over the top. I’m glad I was in that environment. I’m glad God enabled me to get a taste of that, because that made me even more hungry. It’s all I can think about. So I’m definitely not going to stop working.
I’ll be looking at my game to see where I can improve and I’m really excited to see how far I’m going to come by the time training camp starts.
It’s been a great season, but we don’t deserve all the credit. I want to give you guys credit. We’ve definitely been in this together. It’s been special. The few times we did lose, you were still there for us. As much as we deserve this championship, you guys deserve it more.
12s, I love you from the bottom of my heart. Let’s see if we can do this thing again next year.
Go Hawks.
This is the second part in a two-part blog from Earl, recapping his Super Bowl experience. To read Part I, click here.
Nice article, Earl. It seems to me that you are an observant and teachable young man. That will go far towards helping you to suceed in you quest to keep growing — and winning! Enjoy the offseason.
Thanks for the article, Earl. Everything I read about or by this team just makes me love you all more, not because you are phenomenal athletes (you are) not becuase you brought home a Super Bowl Championship (so much fun!) not because you gave this city a great ride (most of us don’t want to get off–still listening to sports radio obsessively, still googling daily for new news, still watching game highlights over and over) but because there is such a sense of the extrordinary, the exceedingly rare, the SPECIAL that radiates from this team. Enjoy your time off. Can’t wait for next season. GO HAWKS.
Thanks Earl!
We love you guys also! Your family in our hearts and in our lives!
♥
Earl you are such an inspiration and I love ya!!! I just got one of your signed framed photos yesterday and love it.. keep doing what you do.
Thank YOU, Earl! Can’t wait to see what next season brings! Enjoy your off season!
Thank you for writing this. It means so much to us fans (12s) to get a little insight to the whole experience. Me personally, I have loved watching this team grow over the last few years. You guys have the opportunity to do something special. Thanks for everything and can’t wait for next season.
WOW! What a truly inspiring article. Thank you for what you’ve given us fans. GO HAWKS!
Hey Earl,
Thanks for writing this, it was awesome to get all of the events from your perspective, from winning it all to the parade. Just want to say I have been a fan of yours since you were drafted. My buddy is from Texas and a huge longhorn fan and told me what a good pick you were. Then immediately when the season started your rookie year you were making impact plays, and I could tell you were bringing something to the table we never had. Your style of play set a tone for that defense and I knew it was the beginning of something, so I’ve been repping #29 on my back ever since. One of my dreams was to see the hawks win it all in my lifetime, and you were a big part of that. Thank you. Hope you have a very long career here in Seattle but regardless where you play I’ll be an ET fan for life. Can’t wait to see what yall do next year.
Go hawks
-Ricky
Love ya Earl, you’re a great influence and its an honor to have you on our team. The chemistry and heart you boys have is something truly special and you said it best. There was a reason you guys were there(sb48), same reason you not only came home with the win, but also handled the game so well. From start to finish you guys never turned it off. Can’t wait for next season but in the meantime enjoy yourself. Just make sure we skill can next year
Man I love this team! I’m proud to be a 12 because of the type of people playing on our team. Living in Texas it’s few and far between when I can go to a game. I went to the Texans game this year where I sat next to Earl’s Uncle who was wearing Earl’s UT Championship ring. His Uncle told me he loves it in Seattle and loves the fans and I told him to tell Earl we love him! It’s so nice to cheer for good God-fearing men who leave it all on the field. I have always and will always be a 12. This team will forever go down as the first team to bring the Lombardi Trophy to us 12’s and they will never be forgotten! Keep it up boys! GoHawks!
Earl – your blog is incredibly awesome as are all you young men! You know the 12’s love you all right back. I feel bad about a few crazies jumping on your truck and not respecting your time. Let’s hope that is the few and far between experience. Enjoy your time off. See you soon.
You are one of the coolest guys around you come across as down to earth kinda guy.. keep doin what your doin..
First of all, thank you for this. I love reading your thoughts. Second of all, us 12s are also trying to get better at protecting our house. I am strengthening my core muscles and really pushing from my diaphragm. We’re loud, but we can get louder. We can stay louder – during the huddle, at the line and after the ball is down. Pretty much, all the time. Now I’ve tasted sweet victory at the Super bowl, I want more. Let’s get after it. Protect this house! Go hawks.
Great insight Earl –
As a nearly 30 year fan of the Seahawks, I decided on July 27th (my 36th birthday) to get out to the VMAC and take in the excitement of training camp for the first time. It was that day that I saw the potential in this team. This year… this was our year. As a ball club, as fans, as a city. THIS was it.
Although I’ve been a fan, it was my second year on the Season Ticket wait list (Blue Pride) but I felt so strongly that this was the year that I purchased single game tickets for my wife and I for 9 / 12 pre-season/ regular season home games spending well over $5K on tickets. I didn’t want to miss this opportunity to see the games. With each passing game, I remained ever hopeful and cautiously optimistic.
At 13-3 going into the post season as the first seed, I was absolutely stoked. I had to travel to London the day of the divisional game against the Saints, but I wanted to see the game so badly that I went to the airport 6 hours early so I could sit and watch the game before my flight left. I, along with 100 other fans crowded the restaurant and bar at SeaTac to watch. I cut my trip to London short by a day when I scored 2 of the few tickets open to Blue Pride members for the NFC Championship game against the 49ers. Being completely jetlagged and awake for nearly 36 hours, my wife and I attended the game and watched our Hawks move on to Superbowl 48.
Unfortunately, we didn’t get tickets to the Superbowl but I watched from home and I have to say that I did shed a tear as I watched the team dominate the entire game. It was the fulfillment of 30 years (not the 38 that others have waited) waiting for my team to make it to the big time and fulfill their destiny.
I think I speak for all of the 12’s that have been waiting years for this time when I say, “Thank you Earl! Thank you L.O.B. and Thank You 2013/14 Seahawks! This Season was one for the record books and will not be forgotten.”
See you next year young blood.
Cheers,
Martin.
Earl,
Thanks for your personal view on the amazing SB victory you and the Hawks delivered to Seattle. I hope you know how much we all appreciate your excellence and leadership. Here’s hoping you remain a Seahawk for your entire career, and add your name to the Ring of Honor and add to the number of Seahawks in the Hall of Fame.
Wow! I just keep loving you more! We’re so lucky to have such a great leader on our team. Enjoy that darling girl of yours!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts & feelings with us Earl. You seems like a nice down to earth humble man. THANK you for an awesome season!!! We’ll you at the top next season!
GO Seahawks!!!!
Am
“That’s why I say love is the highest frequency.” Yes sir!!
I have been wondering why the points talked about in the ESPN article (came out in pre-season I believe) have not been a major talking point. It should be a huge part of the conversation right now. So much respect to the players and coaching staff for bringing in a new era in vision and belief. Leave no doubt is so powerful!
I would love to hear more from the players on this. It all starts with love!
Thanks for taking the time to write that Earl! Hope to see you hoopin at some point this off season. You have one hell of a jump shot but you still wont win. #Eastside club
Earl, it’s great to see your honesty and I wondered if so many people would get you guys scared! I was thinking about that as I stood waiting for you guys to come by cause it was awesome to see so many people coming together. BTW thank you for being a part of bringing us together! I knew when I watched you playing in the slowpitch game last summer at Sherms event that you were a very gifted and special athlete.. As I sat next to my 7 year old grandson I told him that the reason you were so good is because you don’t give up and you give 110…maybe even 125% He looked at me and knodded with his eyes wide open.. Hey you have a great off season and us 12’s are looking forward to next years trek towards greatness again..blessings my friend!
You are a remarkable young man. Keep growing, keep striving and most important keep loving your beautiful family.
Earl, thanks for articulating your amazement, humility, hunger, and passion. God works in you, and I’ll be praying you can stay obedient and wanting His best for you. God bless you, Guy. Great work all season. You deserved to win.
ET phone home baby!! What y’all did this year was powerful, masterful, and unbelievable. Great players, but even better people. I hope the L.O.B. stays here and becomes legendary…
I have followed my Seahawks from their inception, lived and died with every team. Been a season ticket holder now for 3 years and thoroughly enjoyed this season! I knew after BeastQuake that this outcome would happen! So very proud and excited! Earl, I wear your jersey – yours, Largents and Trufants. Eventually I want a Zorn jersey as well, but I believe in defense first. You are the captain of our ship, he QB on defense. I believe as you do, we are positioned for several shots at the title – I will be there doing my part to help, enjoying watching you do yours. We really are one team. The Northwest lives you and your team mates – we would love to have your number retired here, watch you retire with multiple Lombardi’s. watch your daughter grow up a northwest kid! Go hawks!
Thanks ET for a fantastic, historic and unforgettable season! We are blessed to have you in Seattle. We appreciate your enthusiasm, dedication and perseverance! Congratulations for winning the first championship in Seahawk history and in your personal achievements as well. God bless you, the Seahawks and all people. We thank God for everything! Go Hawks!
We love you back! Thank you for being such a incredible player and asset to our team that we love… GO SEAHAWKS!
Earl,
Thank you for sharing and doing your best everyday. It is pure pleasure to watch you play, we all love you and hope you are a SEAHAWK forever!! GO HAWKS!!!!
From the day I met you during your rookie year, I knew there was something special about you. You have evolved to become a great player on and off the field. I watch you grow every year and I must say, I am truly impress and I’m proud of you. Keep up the good work and lead by example. The way you stay humble and grounded says a lot about you. I have an elevated respect for you, not only for what you do for yourself but others. Compared to many athlete your age, who makes their fame, money, swag, bling define them, you make your character define you. Much love and respect to you. Kudos to your mom for raising you well.
E.T. III Nothing but love for the Legion Of Boom. Thanks so much for sharing your story with the rest of the Seahawk Nation. Love what you guys for city. Let’s hope we can keep together. GO HAWKS!!!
RONNIE
We got so much love for you. Thank you.
You do realize now you can never leave Seattle earl lol your in out hearts and we are in yours .Say hi to the guys for us .
GO HAWKS
Go Hawks! From a newly montes 12…..
Let’s so this again…
Thank you Earl, and to all the other guys on the team, also to all the other 12s for their support of the Seahawks organization.
This was such a great and inspiring article! Congrats Earl on the SB and hopefully you have many more to come! Hook Em and Go Hawks!!
Thank you Earl. Keep up the great work
I am so looking forward to the next season.
Earl, you’re the best!! I was rewatching the game the other day and you are just all over the field, I love that. Something happens, anywhere, and there you are. LOL. I didn’t notice that the first time around. When I did, I just laughed when I saw you there, YET AGAIN. It is awesome and what makes you such a special player!
Earl,
You were nice enough to take a picture with my 11 year old daughter and I @ Benihana the night before the parade. I was proudly wearing my 29 jersey that night. I have been following the Seahawks since 1976 and am so proud of what you and the team accomplished! I am 52 years old now and can finally check the box that we are Super Bowl Champs! I was a SR in High School at the last parade for the Sonics. I didn’t know at the time it would be 35 years before the next parade. You are a great football player but an even better person. You carry yourself with the class of a true Champion We look forward to watching you for many more years
Love your passion! Truely an inspiration! So much fun to watch & support all you guys! Love our Seahawks!
One of my favorite mic’d replays of the super bowl was Earl, Kam and Richard telling each other they loved each during warmup. Brought tears to my eyes. I enjoy your blog. Keep writing and enjoy the off season.
There are soldiers fighting for a cause and then there are WARRIORS. Warriors start at a higher place in their minds, have a different level of attitude and a spirit of certainty that they will win no matter how large the giants they face. That is what management saw in each and every one of you…WARRIORS that are men of a different spirit. We can hardly wait for next year!
The 12’s ♥ you ETIII!!!!!
It’s really cool to see that even a great player like you still has a humble but confident attitude. I was thinking about getting your jersey with the money I earned these past weeks and this just touched me. I’m only 16, but it means the world to have such a young inspiration like you! Go Hawks!
Earl Thomas III is a historic player in a historic time for this team. May all of us 12s not take one moment for granted that we have to watch and interact with players like him. This is the dawn of our dynasty, and I expect Earl and a few others to have a bust in Canton when this chapter of Seahawks history is ultimately written. Get some much deserved rest Earl and enjoy your family immensely. As always, thank you for sharing with us here.
Thanks very much for sharing these thoughts. Its great to see how this victory is as much about family for you as it is for the fans. I was fortunate enough to be able to take my Dad to the Superbowl and see in person the domination the LOB had over Manning. The memories of that weekend with my Dad will be cherished for the rest of our lives. Here’s to more amazing victories to come! Go Hawks!
This stuff is why you are my favorite player on the team ET. You just get it. I dont know if you look at these comments or not but if you do ive been blocked from your account for 2 years on twitter and Ive never understood why. Never said a bad word about you and got nothing love for you. Brian Schneider even got us in the family area after the game your rookie year and I got a pic w you throwing up the hook em horns sign. If you ever do read this id appreciate if you unblocked me: Seaj253
thanks ET-Go Hawks and Hook Em Horns
I know and understand what you were speaking about when you mentioned how close the LOB was. It’s a true love for another person/or persons that no one else can understand, but the people in your circle. You are all so tight and hope it stays strong for as long as you can hold it together. Don’t let ANYTHING pull you apart. Most of all, MONEY!! Other teams are going to try to steal you away with dreams of greener grass. But a little bit of patients and maybe another huge season next year..will create ENDLESS amounts of doors to open. I admire you and the rest of the LOB. Enjoy your break with your beautiful daughter and family.
Seahawks~” Remember the Titans”
Thank you,
Forever a 12th Man
After some unfortunate experiences with the church when I was younger I could never really understand how some people could be so passionate in thier faith, watching the Seahawks this year gave me a little insight in to how they feel.
Everyone I know and I mean everyone, including people who had never followed a sports team in thier lives had the complete and unwavering conviction that this team could not and would not lose, we had FAITH!
Yes you’re definitely building a legacy and I’m proud to see it here in Seattle. Love watching you play…your passion, fire and dedication don’t go unnoticed by us 12s…thank you! I’ll look forward to more of your posts during the offseason and, as always, looking forward to next season. Thanks Earl!
Thank you for being committed, for staying focused, for always being hungry, and for leading by example. I am 58 years old and have followed the Hawks since day 1. While winning the Super Bowl was an awesome accomplishment for the team, the goodwill this team generates within the community is what ha struck and stayed with me. Too many times sports are played for all the wrong reasons, this team seems to be playing for all the right reasons. Have a wonderful off-season with your family and friends, and stay safe.
Earl hopefully you are a Seahawk for life. You are the kind of player and person I will be able to tell my kids about one day. Love you, the LOB, and the whole team. We got this next year! Go Hawks!!!
Thanks for loving us like we love you, and fighting for us to take home the trophy. Being in the parade is a moment I’ll always remember. I could just feel the energy from all the love, feel the earth shake when the go hawks and lob chants would go. Its still surreal to me that you guys did it. you guys are the ones. i cant imagine how it is for you. keep it up bro. dont settle for just one. much love L O B
Amazing article and a true insight into the mind of Earl Thomas III. I pray the Seahawks organization does everything it can to keep you here in Seattle. You’re the player I look forward to hearing from the most and the reason I wear your jersey. God bless you. Go Hawks!!!
Young man, that’s all you can do. You keep learning and enjoying what you’re doing. And remember, “Salvation is of the LORD.”
Earl,
I have been a Seahawks fan forever I knew this was the year my girlfriend and I are so in love with this team. You are my favorite and I am so proud of you and your dedication to this team truly God has blessed you with talent. This team really loves each other and it shows and other teams see this plus I love the Coach Carroll what a great example of what a great Coach means. The 12th man stands behind all of you and cant wait till next year!!!Thank you for what you stand for.
have a great time off
Becky
This man is as beautiful in his intellectual mind as his craft is on a stage of warriors, even more humbling is his motivation for more. Honestly he is just passing knowledge some of the greatest in all aspects of life have left for us to live by “frequency of love” the want to only get better with all things “you” is only done threw just love of what ever it maybe you do.. . It’s amazing to have such grateful athletes with such minds. As a collective here in the Northwest Go Hawks Baby!!! Stay Legendary L.O.B.
P.S: Hawk nation loves you ET your an amazing character and the world is lucky to have your frequency resonate among us.
I think I was most surprised by how old you are. You are the same age as my son. So I should say, how young. You have already accomplished so much in your young life, and it is through your hard work, dedication, and love of life that you continue to succeed and grow. You write so eloquently and bring such emotion to your story. You are such an inspiration as a player, as a man, a son, a father, and a human. You are truly a special person. Thank YOU for all you bring to the table. It is both recognized, and truly appreciated.
Thanx guys for your hard work, committment and perserverence. You mentioned Coach Carroll and I love listening to him speak. His (THE) philosophy is so right on. Each day we go out and give our best effort and continue that always. We will be rewarded in many ways but ultimately the reward is felt within. In knowing you are giving your all every day and never leaving stones unturned. What this season and Championship have done for this entire region is remarkable. Your remark about love bringing us all together being so true. It had no bearing what your status was as a citizen in this area anymore. All things were trascended. It is an awesome display to me of togetherness, by you guys, by the orginazation, by the 12’s, and by the entire Northwest region where we have waited so long for this and lived and died SEAHAWK football each of the past 37 years.
Thanks Earl. This was the best Post-Superbowl article I have read. I’ve been a Seahawk fan since 76. For the last few years I’ve been seeing something special brewing. After the loss in the playoffs to Atlanta last year, I told a friend, “It’s Seattles turn next year”. And I hope you guys have many more turns in the future. I am cheering for you all from New Mexico right now. Hoping to get back to the Northwest this year. You’re a special group with the best coach in the N.F.L.! Good luck from a faithful Seahawk fan!
Thanks Earl. You should have been the NFL Defensive MVP this year. Regardless of the snub, I think the NFL & world know who LOB is now. Fantastic year netting the Lombardi is all that matters, right? I had the time of my life @ XLVIII! Have a great off season. & then… Let’s RePete! Go Hawks!
Earl,
I really enjoy reading your blogs! It’s so nice to hear about what you are feeling on and off the field. You are mine and my husbands favorite player and this is going to be a long off season waiting to watch you all play again. Enjoy the time with your family!
Not that I need another reason to love the Seahawks, but you have given me another Earl . You are so respected in this team and out side of football. This past football season has been my favorite in all my 47 years (38 of those years as a Hawks fan). This team is the most outstanding team I have ever seen, on and off the field. As a 12, I can feel your love (as I am sure others can). You all have such a passion for the game and for life, including your coaches. WOW… It’s been 2 weeks since the Superbowl and I am still flying on cloud nine! Still representing everyday. Thanks for an amazing season, Earl, you are truly inspirational and keep doing what you do!! Your fans love you!!! Cant wait for next football season!!!
Win, Lose or Tie.. Seahawks fan until I die!!
Go Hawks.
What a beautiful letter to the 12’s, thank you for this! Our Seahawks are the best! The direction that you are taking is an inspiring one, the gratitude, the drive and the desire to be your best on and off the field. Coach Carroll has provided the leadership, the example and has led Seattle to a championship that we have always dreamed out and this year it came true. And next year, I said it two weeks ago – I know we have another chance to bring home another trophy! <3
#29 Walla Walla loves ya Earl, Go Hawks!!!!!!
Thank You Earl your a good man and a awesome player have fun with your daughter . Can’t wait to see next years season . Thank You for all your hard work and love for the game .
It’s a guy like this that deserves awards . He is a true leader . The hawks have so many leaders it’s unbelievable . A lot of people and players look up to you earl . Keep it up . Gohawks
Sounds like you get it. Thank you. Keep that respect!
Thanks so much to all of you guys and especially you, Earl, and the others like you who so generously share of yourselves through your blogs and social media. One important lesson I’m taking away from reading this right here is that we 12s must keep in mind that as much as we love you guys and as excited as we are to be a part of all of this, you are individual human beings who deserve our respect and honor. Pounding and jumping on a dude’s truck is just flat disrespectful no matter how you look at it and I’m sorry that happened to any of you guys. You’re right about it being a different kind of thank-you but 12s are better than that, I think. Give us another chance next year to welcome you back from a Super Bowl victory and we’ll show you we can do better!!!
ET, you are a badass! Also, I want to thank you for including us 12s in your victory. We love the Seahawks! Now go enjoy your daughter!
God Bless You Earl. Thank you for bringing such joy to all the 12’s!!! You are a awesome Dad hope you share
more pics of your beautiful daughter as she grows Please don’t ever ever leave SEATTLE!!!
Truly a good read and as weird as it sounds it helped me understand how I felt about the Super Bowl too. On SB SUNDAY I went to watch the game with my club we call SNF, my husband and I are the only Seahawks fans, we meet every Sunday night at a different home and share food, drink and football. Fact is this group pretty much dislikes my beloved `Hawks and as much as I dislike that, I am also ok with it, weird how that sounds… There are multiple Broncos fans in this group and one in particular who I actually had a cap knit for her in orange and blue, as a peace offering BECAUSE I felt the same, I knew in my heart that you guys would do what you did, I never told a soul how I felt because I did not want to jinx it BUT I knew. I went outside and called my brother at half time so nobody would see me cry and I know he as crying too, we didn’t even need to say it. When you said your Mom was with you and had tears, that epitomized my feelings exactly. I know there is more to come. I hope that this team can stay together for a few more years!
I’ve been a fan since my junior year at Orting High School, the first Seahawks season. Not a rabid fan like those that jumped on your truck but one who has always loved and defended our team, no matter what the scoreboard said. I had a personalized jersey made many years ago with my lucky number 29 on it so since you’ve come along I have paid attention. You are a special player who is so fun to watch! Your hard work, preparation and dedication are so evident in all that you do. I feel so lucky to call this team my own!
Good luck, stay safe and keep the hope. Go Hawks! Until August….
Thanks ETIII for bring us the championship!
Earl,
You are on another level. Thank you for all your hard work the past 3 seasons, it has brought me so much joy. We love you!
Earl, I would like to congratulate you and the entire Seahawk family for a successful season. I love that you you were able to express your emotions and feelings on this blog. I know you have a strong Christian faith and THAT is what has led you to success.I know you have always kept God in the forefront, and as long as that is your focus, then your entire life will always be a success. Keep up the hard work and bring home many more championships. Southeast Texas, especially Orange is very proud of you.
Earl i want to thank you for bringing the championship to seattle,i’ve have watched the seahawks since i was 11 years old in 1976,we have never won the big game, the 2005 superbowl was given to pittsburgh.,they could’nt take it away from us this time..your dedication and hard work made this happen.now we have the best team in the NFL.this is awesome.i can’t wait to watch you guys tear up the league next year,it’s gonna be amazing,i think we could be undefeated next year.again THANK YOU EARL.i’ll put you up there with one of the all time great safeties in seattle kenny easley.

Thanks Earl for bringing the Lombardi to Seattle you are a great competitor and great person on and off the field; have a great off season. Great father and great student of thr game and super role model;Say hi to your baby daughter Kaleigh Rose Thomas have a happy Valentine’s Day Earl
Thank you Earl for your ambition, motivation, and inspiration. Your future is amazing. I can’t come up with a reason this team for this team not to be the first to achieve a Triple Crown in the NFL. Why not you? Go Hawks…
Thanks man! I’ve watched that 1st half a few times on DVR since. Yes, players and coaches can come and go, we’re stuck! I still tear up thinking about my city, and this win! And special to beat the Broncos the way we did considering our history dating to 1976 in the AFC West! So thank you for the year!
My favorite line between Seahawks was when you were talking to Kam on the sideline after he made a great play. You said something like you appreciated him being himself and then you said, “I’m a fan.” As a professional musician, I don’t caught up in who’s the best or trying to prove it. We’ve all got gifts. All the best players are humble. They love learning from each other and are confident enough in themselves to appreciate someone without being threatened.
Enjoy that relationship and camaraderie you share with your teammates. Where one person’s good work is celebrated by all and you encourage one another. It’s special to be on a team like this.
Wow, that was beautiful, phenomenal!!! You made us feel every bit of what you felt! You are a wonderful person & football player, we appreciate all that you do and this blog felt like a movie like script….unbelievable! Thank you from the bottom of my heart and my whole families heart we all cried reading this and truly are greatful you took the time for all of us 12’s!!! Until next season, GO HAWKS!
Thank you for allowing us to experience your journey and SB victory. As a long time Seahawks Fan, I could feel that this team was different. I realized that no matter what, the game was never out of reach. sure we did not win them all but the outcome was always in doubt right up to the last second and yes there were some real barn burners. Houston, Atlanta. Some games came down to the last play like St. Louis, the NFC Championship and it always broke our way. Now some would call it luck but that is too much to be just luck. It was destiny. It was our time. We made our own luck! YOU made your own luck!
can’t wait till next year!
GO HAWKS!!
Great read! Thanks for keeping it real, Earl. We all have our journeys, some more visible than others. God bless us all!
Thank you for sharing and the memories Earl. Next time you are with your folks, give them a warm hug from the 12’s with a thank you to them from all of us for their contribution to raising such a fine young man. We know where you learned your leadership skills, it was from fine parents who raisd you well. Also give that adorable dauther of yours a hug from us too to thank her for sharing her special daddy with all of us. Bless you and enjoy your off season time. Looking forward to next season! Go Hawks
Earl,
Thanks for the wonderful comments. A footballer’s life is short – go get it everyday. The sky’s the limit for this group, you make us so proud. More than anything, keep that attitude you have!! Work harder than anyone else and stay humble… see you in the HOF one day.
The 12’s love and appriciate you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for your love of God and people, your commitment to excellence, your humility and your leadership! You walk the walk with a wisdom that is rare at any age! So thankful that The Lord has given you (and your teammates) the privilege of representing our city! It’s an honor to have you here!!! Wow what an amazing gift you guys are to a city needing to dream again!!!
Thank you for this article Earl I respect you so much you are my favorite player in the NFL I am 13 and am going to be 6 foot 3 at least and want to be a FS so what you said about Kam and being a tall safety is very inspiring thanks again for writing this article
What an amazing time to be a HAWKS fan! You guys have given this city and the 12s something that no one can take away for the rest of our days. This team is made up of so many likeable people that on any given day you will literally see 8-10 different jerseys out on the streets. I’m so happy and thankful to be able to enjoy this ride and I wish you nothing but continued success. I hope we can keep this team together for as long as possible and while I want everyone to get the contract they rightfully deserve, hopefully everyone understands that a small sacrifice may help to keep everyone together. Thanks for all you do Earl. Every 12 knows what you bring to the table and how you are one of (if not THE) player(s) that makes this team go and keeps everyone humble and improving day to day. I truly hope you are able to stay a HAWK for life. Much Respect!
Love you E.T.!
