Earl Thomas III has spent the last seven seasons solidifying his place as one of the best players in the National Football League, and he was recognized as such once again.

Sports Illustrated‘s MMQB recently named Earl the No. 12 player in the NFL. The Seattle Seahawk was the top safety on the list and ranked ahead of all other defensive backs.

“Nothing gives a defense more confidence than having a rangy, smart security blanket in deep centerfield,” SI said of ET III. “Last season, with Thomas in the lineup the Seahawks gave up a passer rating of 77.8. Without him, it was 100.3.”

The next defensive back on the list is Arizona cornerback Patrick Peterson. Earl was the only safety to make the Top 25. ET’s friend Eric Berry of the Kansas City Chiefs slotted in 27th.

J.J. Watt (2), Von Miller (3), Luke Keuchly (4) and Khalil Mack (8) were the only defenders to best No. 29 on the list.
