Coming off an impressive rout of the San Francisco 49ers at home, Earl Thomas III and the Seattle Seahawks (2-1) will hit the road this weekend to take on the New York Jets (1-2) at MetLife Stadium.

The Hawks put forth a stout defensive effort against the Niners even though Earl was a little disappointed in how the team finished the game, yielding 15 points in the final quarter. This week ET III and Co. will look to clean up the mistakes and put forth a more complete effort in East Rutherford, N.J.

Heading into Week 4, the Seahawks are ranked No. 2 in NFL in points allowed and have continued to be a headache for opposing offenses. Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who is coming off a six-interception game, understands the challenge at hand any time a team has to go up against the Legion of Boom.

“This defense, Seattle’s defense, they’ve been great for a long time. Not just good, but great. Championship caliber defense. That still pops up on film this year,” Fitzpatrick explained. “They’re really sound in terms of their assignments. They’ve got great players and for us to be able to move the ball and score points we’re going to have to have a great game.”

When the Jets take the field this weekend there’s a chance they will be without receiver Eric Decker, one of their top weapons in the passing game, who has been held out of practice this week with a shoulder injury. No. 29 and the defense will still have to account for the veteran Brandon Marshall and the sophomore breakout Quincy Enunwa.

Marshall has underperformed this season after putting up career-high numbers last year. The Jets’ star wide out has been held under 35 yards in two of the first three games and had yet to find the end zone. Enunwa leads the team in receptions (17) and only has a couple less targets than Marshall.

On the offensive side of the ball for the Seahawks, it sounds like quarterback Russel Wilson will be able to suit up for Sunday’s showdown despite his sprained knee. This is encouraging news considering the injury forced Wilson to miss the first snaps of his career in Week 3.

“I feel great,” Wilson said before Thursday’s practice. “I feel great, feel strong. Obviously practiced yesterday, practiced the full practice and everything like that. I’m excited about this week.”

Head coach Pete Carroll is pleased with what he’s seen from Thomas and the D so farm and he’s excited for the unit to showcase its dominance against the Jets on Sunday afternoon. It will be important for Legion of Boom to be on top of its game so Seattle can capture its first road win of the season.

“I’m really fired up about the defense,” Carroll said. “The first three weeks of the season we’ve really played the same. Very aggressive, tough football and good at the line of scrimmage. Also really effective on third down and we’re running really well to the ball and stuff. Some real good positive things there for three weeks in.”

Sunday’s game is slated to kick off at 10 a.m. PT from MetLife Stadium and will be broadcast on FOX.
